Session Description:

Non-compliance with Reg E can result in substantial fines, lawsuits, CFPB investigation, and more. With consumer protection being an important aspect of every financial institutions’ daily operations, there is often a miscommunication between compliance interpretations of the regulation and operational handling. This session will resolve common issues and position the institution for compliance and reducing exposure.

This advanced, two-part series, will explore the complex and often misinterpreted world of Regulation E. From disclosure requirements to “what-went-wrong” where cases resulted in multi-million-dollar penalties, and Regulator expectations to the perception of a disconnect between payment rules and the Reg, no subject is off-limits! Bring your questions as each session will focus largely on addressing attendee questions, concerns, and cases.

Each course concludes with Action Items for attendees to assess internal procedures, develop appropriate internal training, increase the institutions compliance posture, and more.

In this two-part series, attendees will:

  • Dissect common Regulator and CFPB findings;
  • Relate CFPB interpretations to common consumer claims;
  • Isolate common areas where Compliance and Operations/Frontline interpret Reg E differently creating an environment of non-compliance;
  • Examine Regulator and CFPB requirements and expectations;
  • Provide their own situations for group discussion;
  • Investigate appropriate responses to true situations.
