Preventing In-Person ID fraud

ID fraud is on the rise and identification verification is the first step in risk management. There are over 1100 different ID’s in the US, which is far too many for one employee to recognize. Even worse, anyone can buy a fake ID so sophisticated it is indistinguishable from a real one to the naked eye, even for police.
In this talk, we will look at ID fraud from an in-branch perspective, and explore how US Customs and Border Protection has deployed technology that could also help credit unions and community banks mitigate risk.
Bio: Philippe Benitez is a 20-year veteran of the global telecommunications and payment industry. He currently leads regional development efforts to help banks fight fraud with document authentication and biometrics technology. Prior to joining Gemalto, Philippe was a consultant with Accenture. He moved to sunny Austin Texas in 1998 and has almost earned the right to wear cowboy boots.
