Session Description:

This session builds on information discussed in Check Fraud 101 and includes an in-depth discussion on not only check fraud but the laws and rules which govern checks. An ideal primer for understanding liability which could prevent loss to the financial institution. 

This session takes a deep dive into check fraud, reviewing specific types of fraudulent items, such as counterfeit and altered checks. It will discuss liabilities and responsibilities of all parties, specific UCC and Reg CC warranties, Holder in Due Course, return timeframes and more.

Attendees will leave the session with an understanding of:

  1. Characteristics of an altered item versus a counterfeit or forged item;
  2. The liabilities of all parties;
  3. Specific laws and regulations that impact check fraud.
