Fintech has been a buzzword around Boston for years, but there remains a wide range of technologies at various stages of development. Tech designed to help money managers, for instance, has been a staple of Boston fintech for about as long as there’s been Boston fintech.
But one of the newer and most-promising waves of fintech locally is payments — technology that helps make transactions faster, easier and cheaper for businesses and consumers.
“Payments rivals capital markets in this cycle of innovation,” said Sarah Biller, the co-founder of FinTech Sandbox, a Boston-based nonprofit that provides fintech startups with free data. “That certainly wasn’t true in the last cycle of innovation, in the 2000s range.” (Subscription Required.)
